This project stitches up really quickly. Cut backing fabric into a 40″ x 40″ square and contrasting fabric into a 30″ x 30″ square. Simple and sweet baby blankets are one of my favorite baby gifts to sew, and today i’m sharing a diy self binding baby blanket tutorial that just might become one of your favorites as well!

Web learn how to make this baby blanket with shannon cuddle fabric. Mark the center of each side (on both pieces) with a pin. After you’ve sewn all 4 sides fold the blanket in half diagonally so that it makes a triangle.

It’s also a great way to showcase some of your favorite prints of fabric since you don’t have to cut them up into tiny pieces! Then fold in half and pin at center like you did with fabric 2 on all four sides. Web sew each of the 4 sides starting and stopping ½″ from the end of the fabric.

Repeat with all four sides. One side at a time…. Leave a 4″ hole in one of the sides so that you can turn the blanket right side out.

Start with a small lovey version to practice the techniques, then try a larger version. Knit receiving blankets for baby boys! Sew along the seam all the way around the blanket, making sure to catch the opening to close the hole and finish the blanket.
