These cardigans are intended to span multiple sizes. It’s shawl good child size (4/6) this sleeved triangle shawl is so much fun to make and creates a lovely, swishy fabric that makes you just want to dance. See more photos and yarn suggestions here:

There is enough fabric that you could allow the front to drape open like a shawl, or you could use the closure (hook & eye closure, a button closure, or a tie closure) for chillier nights or for more coverage.
