The long tail stocking hat is crocheted top down, making adjusting the length of the tail easy peasy. Cut yarn leaving a long tail. Thread yarn needle with the long strand of yarn, weave yarn through slip stitches at top of hat.

Closing the hole on top of the hat: Each round should have 12 hdc’s. Alternate between color a and color b every two rounds.
Crochet until you have 16 stripes (8 of each. Sc around, until the hat is 5 inches long, including the white band. Red heart super saver cherry red, hunter green, white.
Turn the hat inside out. Do not join, work in continuous round. Decreasing round, place a stitch marker *sc2tog, sc in the next 3 stitches* around the hat.
